It's here already, track out week! Friday is the last day of the quarter! Which means we have a pretty busy week this week. Not only will report cards come home on Friday, but we have a couple of assessments we need to take to wrap things up and Case 21 testing on Wednesday and Thursday.
Along with the end of the quarter comes conference sign ups. I will get a sign up genius put together and sent out by the end of the week, probably Thursday. Typically I do conferences on one of my work days at the end of vacation. However, due to plans that have come up for those 2 days, conferences will take place during the first 2 weeks of second quarter.
Boosterthon is over, but we are still collecting pledges. As a school we exceeded the $27,000 goal in pledges, now we just need to collect that money. If you have pledges that have not been collected yet, please send those in as soon as possible.
Thursday night is Family Fun Night at Barnes and Noble at Triangle Town Center from 4-9. Teachers will be reading some books beginning at 5:00. Mr. Schoenebeck will be putting on a show at 7:00 and chorus will perform right afterwards. Hope everyone will be able to attend.
Case 21 testing will take place on Wednesday and Thursday this week. We will be taking the Math test on Wednesday and the Science test on Thursday. Both tests will begin at 1:15 and students will be given as much time as they need to finish the test. Each test should not take much more than an hour.
We are still collecting deposits for our spring trip to Washington, D.C. Online payments are available. We will also begin collecting for our November trip to the IMax at Marbles Kids Museum. The cost of the trip is $9, however, concessions are available for an extra cost. The letter will be coming home in Tuesday folders this week. We are only able to take 6 chaperones per class on this trip, so we will be taking the first 6 chaperones to pay for the trip who have been cleared by the county. Payment for this trip is also available online.
In math we will be wrapping up adding and subtracting decimals this week. We will also begin a unit on geometry that will stretch into the beginning of second quarter. In reading the kids are working on a mood and tone project, finding photos on pics4learning or taking their own photos or drawing pictures that exhibit a certain tone. They will be putting those pictures into a PowerPoint or another form of presentation. In writing we will be wrapping up an unassisted narrative writing piece. At the end of the day we will be working on reviewing science curriculum to prepare for Thursday's Case 21 test.
I think that covers it for right now. If anything else comes up during the week, I will pass it along. Have a great week!
