Week of 10/28

I can't believe how quickly the weekend flew by! I ran out of time to get the blog post together. I only have a couple of reminders this week.

First, Boosterthon collection is taking place right now. Here is a note from Tessa Freer about helping with collections.

I am still looking for about 7 volunteers for this Friday's Boosterthon collections (as well as future dates).  It is basically data input (no phone calls, etc).   It begins at 9:30 am in the data room (AG room) in the K-1 Hallway.  If you can help out, please go to:

Thank you for all of your help with making Boosterthon a success for your child's school!
Tessa Freer

We are collecting for field trips right now as well. We have 3 things we are collecting for. Go to the field trips page (found under the home page tab) to download and print any forms you may have lost. Information about each trip is listed with the forms.

As some of you may know, I will be out of the classroom Friday and Monday due to a family emergency in Arizona. Due to this trip, I will not be holding math review this week. Barring any other circumstances we will start back up with math review next week.

We're Back!

That's right, we're back, and hard at work already! There is a lot going on already, so I will try to give you as many details as I can right now.

First, Boosterthon is going strong. The kids were supposed to bring home Boosterthon information just before track out. This is our big fundraiser for the year, so please get pledges. The fun run will be on Friday, see Mr. Biles's email from Sunday for more information.

We have a lot of field trip things going on right now. We are collecting Washington, D.C. deposits right now. It is not necessary to know which parent is going along right now, but if you know one person is attending, please send in $60 for each person attending. We are also collecting for our IMAX trip that will take place in November. If you have misplaced the forms for either trip, please email me and I will send them to you. In your Tuesday folders tomorrow you will also find information on our in-class field trips. We will be taking 3 of them this year, all related to science. The total cost for all 3 will be $24 per person.

Also in Tuesday folders tomorrow you will find your child's fall picture. Retakes are Wednesday, so you will have to make decisions quick. If you want a retake, please send your pictures back to class with your child and they will be sent to get their picture taken some time in the morning.

Due to some conferences taking place this week, Friday morning math will begin next Friday instead of this Friday.

Thanks to everyone who signed up for and attended conferences last week. If you were unable to attend either day last week, please send me another email so I can get you scheduled soon. Unfortunately, with the huge amounts of email I got over track out, any emails that were sent before track out have been buried somewhere.

Report cards are supposed to go home Friday, barring any more set backs in the system. I am not totally sure what they are all going to look like. There is a letter that will be in the report card envelopes that explains the report card, please be sure to read this letter before analyzing your child's grades. Here is a blog from Wake County to help with understanding the report cards (http://www.wcpss.net/blog/2013/10/for-parents-understanding-your-elementary-school-students-new-report-card/).

Ok, I think that covers it for now! If anything else comes up this week I will pass it along. Have a great week!

I hope everyone has enjoyed their track out, I sure have!

Obviously, the beard isn't real, but the fish sure is! Red Drum sure can put up a fight when they get hooked!

Anyway, just a couple of quick things before we track back in.

First, conferences are this week. I will be going through my email and contacting those who said they were unavailable this week to set up a time to meet. Hopefully we can get those all scheduled for the first week back. If you have not signed up, here is the link Sign Up Genius Conference Schedule. Remember to please bring your child with you to the conference. If you or your child are unavailable please send me an email right away so we can schedule something for when we track back in.

Also, with second quarter beginning next week, I have put together the sign up for Tuesday folders. If you are one of the folks who has volunteered to help out with that, you will see it in your inbox shortly.

Report cards are supposed to go home Friday, October 25. As long as the system keeps working correctly, they will be ready to go home that afternoon.

Last, we have been limited on the amount of copy paper for the grade level this year. As long as I use the copy machines, I have plenty of copies, but we are running out of paper to print on. I would greatly appreciate if some of you would be willing to purchase some paper, or if you have extra at home, just send some in. We went through it a lot faster than I thought we would last quarter.

Thanks so much and enjoy the last week off!
