I can't believe there are only 3 more weeks until we track out. This quarter is flying by! Just a couple of things to let you know about this week.
First, a huge thank you to everyone who came out for Heritage Day on Thursday. This was the first time we have done this project and I feel like it was a great success. We have had many compliments on the displays and the project presentations. Anyone who took pictures, if you could please put them in a folder and share them with me via Dropbox, that would be fantastic.
Speaking of pictures, anytime you are at a school event and take pictures, please share them with me via Dropbox so I can add them to my iPhoto class event and can then share them with the class at the end of the year. Please don't use email to share all your pictures with me as my school email doesn't allow me to see more than 4 attachments most of the time. Dropbox works best for me.
Boosterthon is continuing this week. As of 12:30 on Sunday afternoon we are at $24 per lap. As of Friday, Mr. Schoenebeck was at $66 per lap and I have no idea what Ms. Nelson is at. I would really like for our class to reach a total of $80 a lap or more. The prize for $80 a lap is a movie and popcorn one afternoon. I'm sure the kids would love to have an afternoon where they don't have to focus on school work. We have all week to keep those pledges coming in.
The Fun Run will be Friday morning. We will be running at 11:50 Friday morning. If you are available to help out, please use this Sign-Up Genius from the PTA to sign-up. If you don't have time to help out, but can stop by for a few minutes to cheer us on, please come on by. If it isn't raining, we will be out on the track behind the school.
That's it for events this week.
Due to a crazy week last week, we weren't able to get to some of the things I wanted us to get to. This week we will be starting Tone and Mood in Reading. We will be discussing how the author may want to portray a certain tone and the reading may take away something different in the mood of a story. In math we will be working with exponents and scientific notation to help understand place value of whole numbers and decimals. We will finally finish our personal narratives this week in writing. Ms. Nelson will be teaching science this week as well.
I believe that covers everything. As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Hopefully we will see everyone at the Fun Run on Friday. Keep collecting those pledges and have a great week!
