It's hard to believe that we finally got a full week of school in last week! Hopefully there will be no more snow, it looks like things are going to start warming back up this week. Wake County has finally announced the make up days for the time we have missed. The first was last Friday, which was supposed to be an early release but it was extended to a full day (well, not really a full day with the 2 hour delay we had). The next day we are tracked out for. After that we have 2 Saturdays in May that we are using as make-up days. The first is May 16th which will run on a half day schedule, we will release at 12:45. There will be no lunch or specials that day, so please make sure to send a snack! The next is May 30 which will run on a normal full day schedule, we will have lunch that day for sure, I don't know about specials yet. Since these Saturdays are planned so far in advance, please try not to schedule anything those Saturdays. We missed a lot of school recently and these Saturdays come not long before our end of year testing, we will be doing regular curriculum these days and if your child is not there they will have to make it up. I will send out reminders as we get closer to these dates.
I have the final payment for DC forms ready to go home Monday. The total cost for chaperones is $235 and students is $221. Student cost is reduced due to the money raised from the Cake Walk at the Valentine's Dinner Dance. Thanks to those who contributed by bringing desserts or buying tickets.
The only things going on this week look to be book fair and first in fitness. We will be going to the book fair as a class on Monday to preview and Tuesday to purchase, both from 1:10-1:30. First in Fitness is also scheduled for Tuesday morning.
I have added some new things to the calendar for track out and next quarter pertaining to middle school things. West Millbrook is offering their student orientation while we are tracked out, April 16 9:45-11:45, and a parent orientation that night 6:00-7:15. Durant is scheduled for the Thursday we are in DC, I don't know if that will change or not. I have not seen any dates for Wakefield yet. Students have already talked to Mrs. Cooper about middle school, electives, lockers, etc. We do not know when the elective forms will be available, but have been told that they are expected to be late this year. Hopefully we see them before track out. I will let you know more as I get more information.
Last call or any 5th grade parents who would like to place a personalized ad in the yearbook. Forms and checks need to be turned in by the March 13th to one of our front office staff. If you need a form go to the PTA website at puepta.com under the 5th grade information tab.
Meg Stech, one of our 3rd grade teachers is raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by participating in a 100 mile bicycle ride. Her goal is to raise $1,900 to donate to the society to help them fund research for a cure. If you are interested in helping her out go to her website to find out more.
I think that covers it for this week. If anything else comes up I will let you know. Have good one!
