This blog post is a little late in coming this week, but better late than never! Not a lot to fill you in on this week, but there are a couple of things to be aware of.
First is our Science Fun For Everyone field trips. The first trip is next Thursday. We are scheduled for 12:45 and will be going down to Mr. Lamana's classroom for this experience. The theme is "Newton's Lab" and the kids will be doing experiments and learning about Newton's Laws of Motion. Lots of cool stuff going on during this trip. There are some people who need to send in the payments for it. I am going to be sending home new sheets with students either today or tomorrow. We need all payments in before next week. Each trip is $8 and we are doing 3 of them, for a total of $24. Please make checks out to Pleasant Union or pay online.
Next, we got our contracts from the tour company for our DC trip and the dates we put on the calendar are incorrect. They were unable to give us our first choice. Please change your calendars so our trip is one week later than originally scheduled. The new dates for our trip are April 28 & 29. Collection for the first payment is going on now. First payment is $80 and is due by November 6th. If you want to pay online it became available today. Again, make all checks payable to Pleasant Union.
In Tuesday folders this week there were some graded papers. Please make sure all graded papers come back to school after you view them at home. At the end of the year I have to help students put together a file of work samples from the school year to send on to the middle school. If graded papers are not sent back to school then there will be some frantic working and grading going on in the last couple of weeks of the year after testing is done to make sure these files are complete. Papers that come home with a "P" on them are practice papers and do not need to come back to school, please take them out of the folder and keep them or file them, which ever you feel is most appropriate.
Thank you to everyone who came out to Open House last week. We had a pretty good turn out. If you were not able to make it you can view the slides here - http://bit.ly/Open_House15. If you have any questions, please email me.
I think that covers it for now. I'm sure I've forgotten something since it is so hot in the classroom still, it's now been a full 2 weeks without a/c. They have come to look at it and say they only need 1 part to complete the fix. I guess that part is on backorder or something. Good news though is, September is right around the corner and the entire system is supposed to be replaced sometime during the month. Hopefully that means we won't have this problem again this year or for a number of years to come. Have a great rest of the week!
