We are already moving into the 3rd week of 2nd quarter, boy how time flies! Conferences started last week. If you did not sign up for a conference and wish to meet with me, please sign up through the SignUpGenius, there are still lots of slots available this week and next.
There is really only one thing to be aware of this week. Friday is early release. We will dismiss at 1:15.
In Tuesday folders this week there will be a number of papers with a "P" on them. Remember this means practice, not perfect, and they should not be returned to school. Only graded papers need to be returned so there is something for the kids to select from at the end of the year for the files that will be sent to middle school.
Innisbrook fundraisers are going on right now. There should have been a brochure in your first Tuesday folder this quarter. Orders are due VERY soon, I will have to check on that date as it is not on the school calendar. All proceeds for these orders are going towards Washington, DC costs. The more you sell, the more gets taken off your child's field trip cost.
This week in reading we are focusing on text structures and why different topics might get structured differently. In writing we are continuing to talk about leadership and persuasive writing. In math we are finishing up our geometry unit and will have a test on Tuesday. On Wednesday we will begin multiplying decimals. With this unit we will be using many different strategies for multiplying. I will make sure to post the class notes each day so you can keep up with what we are doing and hopefully be able to better help with homework at night. I understand that some of what we will be doing is so different from what you learned that you might not be able to help much. So, if some homework doesn't get done that's ok, we will definitely be reviewing it the next day. In science we are continuing our study of human body systems. This week we will take a look at cells and how advertisements may not tell the complete truth when it comes to supplements for building muscle.
I think that covers it this week.
