December is here and the quarter will be wrapping up very soon! We are down to 3 weeks left and have A LOT of things to do.
Thank you to all those who chaperoned for our trip to the IMAX theater and learning lab. I know the kids all enjoyed the film and most seemed to have a good time during the learning labs. Lots of learning was taking place.
We are going to the Holiday Shop on Friday this week. Gifts at the holiday shop range in price from $1 to $15 or $20 each. If you would like your child to purchase gifts, please send money with them on Friday.
Family Fun Night/Day is this Friday and Saturday at Bob Evans. Information was in last week's Tuesday Folder.
Today is the first of 3 Science Is Fun in class field trips. The scientist will be down in Mrs. L. Clark's classroom. We will be participating from 2:00 - 3:25. Our next trip is in March.
We are wrapping up our unit on Multiplying Decimals today and will begin working on Dividing Decimals tomorrow. We still have to get through units on Expressions and Numerical Patterns. Its a lot to do, and we will probably have to wrap up the Patterns unit when we return in January.
In reading we finished our unit on finding facts in non-fiction texts and began working on looking at different view points within the same topic yesterday. We are using Discovery Education materials for this unit and it is highly likely that your child will need to use the computer at times to complete homework. This unit is focusing on slavery in America and how different people viewed the use of slaves during the 1700s and 1800s differently. We are also reading Revolutionary War period historical fiction in literature circles. Assignments are being posted on Edmodo. A group project will be handed out later this week to go with the novels.
In science we are continuing our unit on Motion and Design. We have a long ways to go with this unit, but hopefully now with the holiday past and no more early releases, we can move right on through the experiments. Tomorrow we are going to work through an experiment using gravity to move a vehicle we created in class yesterday using K'nex.
I think that about covers it for now. If you have any questions, please let me know. Have a great week!
