I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving! We only have 3 weeks until the Christmas break and trackout, which will make for a combined five and a half weeks off!
First, thank you to everyone who brought something or came to our family feast on Wednesday. The kids had a great time and we all ate very well!
As you saw in Mr. Biles's email, the Holiday shop begins this week. We will not be attending until next week. I will send out that date and time later this week. We also have an author coming to visit the school on Tuesday. Her name is Stephanie Greene, I have not heard of her as she writes mainly books for younger children, but you may have read her books before with your kids. If you own any of her books she will be signing books periodically throughout the day.
In math we are finishing up our decimals unit. We have 2 lessons on distinguishing between multiplication and division word problems and will be taking a test on Wednesday. After that we move into Order of Operations and Algebraic Thinking. We will be talking about how to use parenthesis and work long equations from the inside and moving through different sections according to order of operations. We will also be discussing the difference between expressions and equations, as well as solving some simple algebraic style equations.
In reading we are going to continue to work on our American Revolution projects. I will be meeting with students throughout the week to discuss their research and progress on the project. All work should be done at school unless someone is not using their time wisely.
In science we are continuing to work on human body systems. However, the kids will be seeing Ms. Nelson for social studies this week. We will be doing a lot of science next week to make sure we complete the entire unit.
I think that covers it. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me. Have a great week!
