It's hard to believe we are starting the second half of the year already. Before you know it, June will be here and we will be preparing for EOGs and graduation.
First up, Mr. Biles sent out a message Sunday that contained a spot for volunteers for the Valentine's Dinner Dance and the Cake Walk that will take place that night. Last year we raised close to $1300 to go straight to our Washington trip. We need lots of volunteers, not only to bring in cakes but to run the event. I will not be there that night since I will be in Chicago for a wedding, so we will need a few more people to help sell tickets. Mrs. Woronka and Mrs. Nussbaum will be there to answer any questions you may have.
Also, with the Valentine's Dinner Dance coming up, I wanted to make sure everyone understood this is a family event. Last year we had some issues with students asking each other to go as a date during the school day and in some cases being distracted from their work because of it. If you are ok with this for your child, then they need to be asking outside of school. Thanks!
DC payments are still being collected. Many of you have not turned in your second deposit ($30 per person) yet. The online payment system has been reopened for you to make those payments. I will be sending out emails this week to those who I am still missing money from.
We hit the books hard on Wednesday. We started right off with a short project using numerical patterns, we will be having a test on Monday. We will also be pretesting some fraction concepts on Monday. In reading we are focused on fantasy stories. Please make sure your child is reading fantasy books at home. We will be starting literature circles tomorrow, so everyone will be coming home with new books tomorrow. In science we have started our Motion & Design unit where we will be studying Newton's Laws of Motion.
I think that is it for right now. If you have any questions, please email me and I will get back to you. Have a great week!
