Wow, what a quarter we've had so far! I feel like we have gotten nothing done due to all the snow days we've had, but we press on anyway. Thanks to those who remembered we had school yesterday, there were only 12 students in class, but that's ok, I understand that Saturdays make for tough make up days.
Just want you to be aware of a few things of importance coming up.
First, this Thursday is the Human Growth and Development parent meeting. It will be at 6:30 in the library. If it looks like we will have too many people to fit in there, we will move to the cafeteria. I sent home a paper about Human Growth and Development on Tuesday. It is very important that you see this paper. You DO NOT need to return it if you want your child to participate. If you DO NOT want your child to attend this class, you need to sign the paper and send it back to me.
This week we have Artist In Residence with Mrs. Biles. She will be doing clay projects with the kids. We will see here on Monday from 10:45 - 11:45 and Tuesday from 2:00 - 3:00. Mrs. Hopper said she does not need parent volunteers. However, if you would like to come and see what is going on or take some pictures, I'm sure you would be welcome to stop by.
This week is "Love The Bus" week. We are going to celebrate this year by:
Monday: "PUE <3 Their Drivers"- Big Hearts signed by everybody (these will be signed during lunch, since we had so many snow days, I'm assuming they will be signed tomorrow).
Wednesday: The Royal Treatment with crowns and photo op- Draw a picture of your Bus driver as King or Queen of the Road
Friday: Sweets for our Sweeties- Share a small treat with your bus driver
On February 24th, author Mike Artell will be visiting the school. If you want to order a book those forms should be in Tuesday folders this week. He will be doing an assembly for 4th and 5th grade at 10:45 and will be signing books at 1:00 and 3:00.
Due to missing out on Valentine's Day Friday, we will hold a small Valentine's celebration tomorrow afternoon. If your child wishes to pass out Valentine's, they will be able to throughout the day tomorrow. Please make sure they make one for each student, there are 25 students in our class. I will attach a class list to the email I send out today.
I think that about covers it for important dates. As far as curriculum for the week goes, it really hasn't changed since the last blog post. We just haven't had enough class time to really plow through any significant amount of material.
Hope everyone has a great week and see you on Thursday night.
